nice first set
great first set song line up and Jerry doesn't sound like he's going to die at any moment. nice pairing of Greatest Story into Devil With A Blue Dress.
...
/>it is not necessary to add the little 46 sec Good Golly > back into Devil, it is part of the original song. second set playing is good but very pedestrian set list.

Good Show
I attended all 3 of these concerts and although I preferred the 1st night of all 3, this was a solid show. This run was the opening of the East Coast tour
...
for Fall '87. I really preferred these concerts over the MSG concerts, although the 9-18 concert was great. I had always like this arena and had seen all 3 concerts in 1986 on the Spring Tour (great parking lot scene). Also, this was the first 'Hey Pocky Way'. Checkout the Spring '85 run at the Providence Center. Excellent! Rating it a 3 out of 5, since I am positively biased to GD Concerts prior to 1986.

Stand Out First Set, Standard Second
Listened to the whole first set today, no mistakes, no vocal flubs, only high energy. Sure its short, but that's why its 1987, ever show is shorter than
...
the 70s or later 80s. So take it for what time period it came during. Great sound, great energy. Excellent Greatest Story>Devil with the Blue Dress. Probably the best version I have heard of the later. Funny how the Dead acknowledges that their music sounds similar to other pop classics by combining them in homage. (Greatest and Devil With the Blue Dress having similar tempos and chords) Second Set is standard but well played. Listen to 1987.10.3, or 1987.9.18 for slightly more creative shows. No one can deny solid energy from this show. If you love 87' Dead, this is one for your collection. Not all muddy sounding like the spring tour, great board, great playing. Thanks Charlie!!

It's those notes Jerry hits at about 4:48 into

Jackstraw that made this one of my favorites. It's also worth noting that at this time, it was a big deal to hear Brent open a show with a tune that he sung solo. I think this might have been the first time he did so. Good stuff.

JACK STRAW
This is a treat to listen to after having the tinny auds for so many years. I've got this also and appreciate both for what they offer. I personally like
...
the braverman aud. The Jack Straw is just off the charts. I had forgotten how good it was. I love this one for hearing the boys do what they do so clearly. The boys were on and having fun.

wierdness in Providence
saw the posr re the cops in prov. and thought I'd share this little story. after I believe the first night of this run, we returned to the hotel we booked
...
that looks out over the big hill there. we noticed all this commotion outside and saw like at least 20 ppd cruisers chasing some guy in a beat up old car REAL fast. We could see the police lights zig-zagging all over the hill and finally the chase ended with GUNSHOTS right infront of our hotel. We were heavily dosed and just didnt know what to think. The pigs took some guys camera and smashed it ashe was trying to document the beating they gave the dude who was running. Ah, you gotta love a town run by the mob and birthplace of Cthulhu. Anyway these shows #@$%ing ROCKED , I dont care what anyone says, energy out the wazoo, sound great and the wild set lists-crazy. I prefer some of the Aud tapes as they capture the sound of the room, which is great, but this sbd is good too.

Good Golly Miss Molly
There was some great good ole' greatful Dead energy coming out of the boys in the September '87 run and this is a wonderful example. In my opinion, this

show is almost as good as the 9/18/87 MSG show......almost!!

not bad. Download this one if you're a Brent fan.

Download the "Audio 30" version not this one...........
The sound is muffled and far from crisp. Download the other version of this show from the Audio 30 server.

straight to this one... If you are a Brent fan this is a must have...It also has one of the best versions of Jackstraw and Cassidy for '87..
